Adventurer’s Coffee Co. started with a bad cup of coffee, and a drive to do it better.

It was a dark and stormy day…

Not really.

It was just another morning at a boring, stressful corporate job that we all worked at together. It was cold, we were tired, and all we wanted was a good cup of coffee. A cup that didn’t need cream and sugar, but wouldn’t be offended by their addition.

That was not what we got. What sat in our cups was stale, scorched, and, frankly, depressing.

So, we decided right then and there that coffee should be enjoyed, celebrated, and above all else… delicious.

That very same day, we bought an air popcorn popper and a pound of green coffee beans. We roasted them up, let them rest the recommended amount of time, and started trying brews. It wasn’t the best coffee in the world, but it was better than what we’d had that morning. A decent cup of coffee was in our hands, and an idea was in our heads.

Over the next few months, that idea became something more. We knew we wanted to build a company that reflected who we were. We grew up as gamers, nerds, readers, campers, hikers, and storytellers. A strange little balance of dice, controllers, campfires, walking trails, second breakfasts and most of all, community.

We carried those things into adulthood. Then we carried them into coffee.

One day, while watching Bilbo Baggins run out of his Hobbit-hole, the name found us. Just as he shouted, “I’m going on an adventure!” we knew that was exactly what we were doing too.

On October 17th, 2019, Adventurer’s Coffee Co. opened its doors.

Since then, we’ve had the honor of serving Calera and the surrounding area from our café with delicious, made-to-order coffee drinks, sandwiches, pastries, and more. We’ve also sent bags of coffee far beyond our little corner of Alabama, reaching adventurers all over the world.

Over the years, a lot has changed. Seasons have shifted. The road has twisted. The map has gained a few coffee stains.

But the heart of Adventurer’s has stayed the same.

We want to love our neighbors well. We want to make coffee worth slowing down for. We want to be a place where people feel welcome, whether they’re starting their workday, meeting a friend, planning a campaign, studying for finals, chasing toddlers, hiking a trail, or simply trying to make it through a long week with something warm in their hands.

Every day has a journey.

Some are grand and storybook-worthy. Some are quiet, ordinary, and unseen. Either way, we believe a good cup of coffee can help you take the next step.
